2019 winner of the Overall Award at the Construction Excellence Awards was Co Down based contractor GRAHAM, for the Grand Central Hotel, Belfast. This project was also winner of the Commercial Construction category award.
The event was the 20th anniversary of the awards which are held annually and are run by the Construction Employer’s Federation in partnership with Specify magazine, Northern Ireland’s No1 construction magazine.
Killowen Contracts won the Restoration Award for their Lanyon Conservation & Restoration Project, at Queen’s University Belfast, while Heron Bros won the Social/Community Construction Award for Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing & Leisure Complex.
The Education Infrastructure Award went to OHMG, for Queen’s University Belfast, School of Biological Sciences, the Health Infrastructure Award went to GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership, for the Acute Mental Health Inpatient Centre, Belfast City Hospital.
Gilbert-Ash won both the GB/Republic of Ireland Construction Award above £5m for Sevenoaks School and the GB/Republic of Ireland Construction Award below £5m for Mayhew Theatre Learning Facility in London. They also took the ‘Achieving Excellence in Partnering’ Award for the Mayhew Theatre Learning Facility, London.
