Focus on training at home can help NI construction be better prepared for lockdown exit
By Mark Wade, Hays
The effects of the coronavirus lockdown have been felt by every industry and construction is no exception, with work now halted on the majority of sites across the UK and Ireland.
Obviously a lot of roles in the construction sector can’t be done from home and many companies have chosen to use the Government’s furlough scheme to enable them to keep employees on until we are in a position to exit the lockdown phase.
For others who find themselves working at home, perhaps for the first time, Hays has launched a free online training portal designed to help employers and teams grow the skills they need to function effectively and thrive in the face of Covid-19.
Hays Thrive is available completely free to all organisations, big or small, to keep their business moving during this time of unprecedented challenge; and ready to thrive when we come out the other side.
Thrive offers three course areas covering remote working, wellbeing and health and safety. The remote working courses are designed to help improve worker efficiency when remote working and assist with planning their working days and working with a remote team.
The courses are designed to be accessed anywhere and completed as part of a schedule, with a learning management system included to help employers assign training, track team completions and create personalised training programmes.
Remote professional excellence
Remote working may be new to you and your team, but even if you have an established remote workforce, our Remote Professional Excellence courses will help your team better deal with change, plan their working days and thrive as part of a remote workforce.
Be your ‘best self’ – wellbeing training
Workers and employers both are under incredible stress at the moment, and whether your team is working from home or not, their wellbeing needs to be your top priority. Our wellbeing courses cover everything from yoga to stress management.
Your health and safety
We’re all doing our part to lessen the impact of the coronavirus crisis. Your health and safety training courses can help your team take steps to ensure their home working environment is safe and hygienic, and that they are doing everything possible to prevent the spread of the virus.
Of course, training on your own, from home can be tough, so we’ve put a big focus on creating engaging content, with training comprising videos, quizzes and assessments that are frequently updated to make them relevant.
We felt it was vital to include a course dedicated to wellbeing to help employers put their staff’s mental health first, something we all need to be aware of during these uncertain times.
We know that many organisations are facing a period of unprecedented change, adapting to remote working and managing remote teams. It is a concept some construction businesses will already have embraced and which others will be trying to adapt to for the first time.
By offering online training courses for free, we hope to help businesses find new ways of working and support their workers through the crisis.
